Savvas Voutyras

Savvas Voutyras is a lecturer in Politics at the Department of Humanities & Law, Bournemouth University, UK. He holds a PhD in Ideology and Discourse Analysis from the University of Essex. His background is in political theory, in particular critical theory and discourse theory, and psychosocial studies. His work combines psychoanalysis and discourse theory and has looked at questions of nationalism, the experience and politicisation of loss, and the politics of austerity during the economic crisis. His current research focuses on contemporary conservative rhetoric against ‘political correctness’, the construction of ‘populism’ in political and media discourse, and the discourse and politics of ‘evaluation’ and metrics in economic policy. He is an associate editor for Psychoanalysis, Culture & Society.
