DESIRE, the centre for the study of Democracy, Signification and Resistance, invited PhD students for a one-day PhD masterclass on discourse theoretical approaches to politics, society, communication and media. The PhD masterclass took place on 22 March 2023 at Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
During the masterclass, each student presentedt their PhD project and received in-depth feedback on theoretical and methodological aspects of the project from one of the professors giving a masterclass: Nico Carpentier (Charles University in Prague), Emmy Eklundh (Cardiff University), Jenny Gunnarsson Payne (Södertörn University), Alan Finlayson (University of East Anglia) and Yannis Stavrakakis (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki).
Each student also received detailed feedback from one fellow doctoral student and gave detailed feedback to one fellow student. There is a 1-hour slot per PhD student.
The masterclass was organized the day before the colloquium ‘Discourse Theory: Ways Forward, 2nd edition’, which took place on 23-24 March 2023.
