Lazaros KaravasilisUniversity of bremenLazaros Karavasilis is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Intercultural and International Studies (InIIS), at the University of Bremen. He is currently working on the DFG-funded project ‘Between Populism and Radical Democracy, between Party and Movement: The Discursive Afterlife of Square Movements’. His academic research interests include the theoretical and empirical study of populism, radical left and radical right parties in Europe, the connection between parties and social movements, discourse theory and analysis and the relationship between discourse and ideology.
Lazaros’ PhD at Loughborough University examined the different manifestations of populism in radical left and radical right parties in Greece and Germany, based on the cases of SYRIZA, Independent Greeks, The Left Party and Alternative for Germany. Lazaros has obtained a Master’s Degree in Political Analysis and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). He has published journal articles, opinion articles and book reviews in English and Greek. |
