David HowarthUniversity of EssexDavid Howarth is Professor of Social and Political Theory in the Department of Government at the University of Essex. He is the director of the Centre for Ideology and Discourse Analysis and has published numerous books and articles on discourse analysis, South African politics, environmental movements, and various aspects of contemporary political theory. His current research focusses on the prospects for “sustainable aviation” in the UK (and Europe more generally), and he is involved in an ESRC funded project on “austerity urbanism” in a comparative perspective.
