Daniela Bracke

University of Essex

Daniela Bracke is a PhD student in Ideology and Discourse Analysis at the University of Essex, UK. In her PhD thesis she applies ‘political semiotics’ as introduced by Peeter Selg and Andreas Ventsel which complements cultural semiotics with poststructuralist discourse analysis. This framework will help her to examine (re-)constructions of the concept of human rights. Her research interests include (cultural) semiotics, intercultural communication and post- and decolonial theories.
Daniela earned her BA in Cultural studies and Linguistics from TU Dresden (D) and an MA in Conflict, Security and Development from the University of Exeter (UK).
